چکیده

The Iterated Perturbation Theory (IPT) equations of the Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT) for the half-filled Hubbard model, are solved on nearly real frequencies at various values of the Hubbard parameters U , to investigate the nature of metal-insulator transition (MIT) at finite temperatures. This method avoids the instabilities associated with the infamous Padé analytic continuation and reveals fine structures across the MIT at finite temperatures, which can not be captured by conventional methods for solving DMFT equations on Matsubara frequencies. Our method suggests that at finite temperatures, there is an abrupt decrease in the height of the quasi-particle (Kondo) peak at a critical value of Uc, to a non-zero but small bump which gradually suppresses as one moves deeper into the bad insulator regime. In contrast to Vollhardt and coworkers [J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 74 (2005) 136], down to T = 0.01 of the half-bandwidth we find no T ∗ separating bad insulator from a true Mott insulator.

Finite-temperature numerical renormalization group study of the Mott transition

Wilson’s numerical renormalization group method for the calculation of dynamic properties of impurity models is generalized to investigate the effective impurity model of the dynamical mean-field theory at finite temperatures. We calculate the spectral function and self-energy for the Hubbard model on a Bethe lattice with infinite coordination number directly on the real-frequency axis and inve...

Slave particles made real : Critical Fermi surface at a Mott transition in Bose - Fermi mixtures

The Mott metal–insulator transition of fermions is a long-standing open problem in the theory of correlated electrons. While important conceptual ideas were developed in the early works of Mott, Hubbard, Gutzwiller, Brinkman/Rice, and others, a reliable solution of a relevant microscopic model is difficult because of the strong-coupling nature of the problem. For the single-band Hubbard model, ...

Fate of Quasiparticle at Mott Transition and Interplay with Lifshitz Transition Studied by Correlator Projection Method

Filling-control metal-insulator transition on the two-dimensional Hubbard model is investigated by using the correlator projection method, which takes into account momentum dependence of the free energy beyond the dynamical mean-field theory. The phase diagram of metals and Mott insulators is analyzed. Lifshitz transitions occur simultaneously with metal-insulator transitions at large Coulomb r...

Nonlinear analysis of radially functionally graded hyperelastic cylindrical shells with axially-varying thickness and non-uniform pressure loads based on perturbation theory

In this study, nonlinear analysis for thick cylindrical pressure vessels with arbitrary variable thickness made of hyperelastic functionally graded material properties in nearly incompressible state and clamped boundary conditions under non-uniform pressure loading is presented. Thickness and pressure of the shell are considered in axial direction by arbitrary nonlinear profiles. The FG materia...
